1987X Reissue 50W Head – 1993

A superb early example of the Marshall 1987X Reissue, manufactured in 1993 and representing an interesting chapter in Marshall’s history.

Designed to recreate the legendary 50-watt Plexi amplifiers of the late 1960s, the 1987X delivers the unmistakable Marshall sound that has shaped generations of rock guitarists. With its traditional four-input layout, non-master volume design and simple control set, it offers outstanding touch sensitivity, dynamic response and classic British valve tone.

Unlike later examples, these early reissues left the factory fitted with a 5881 power section, producing a slightly smoother and more rounded response while retaining all the punch, clarity and harmonic richness expected from a classic Marshall circuit. As a result, these early models have developed a loyal following amongst players seeking a unique take on the Plexi sound.

This amplifier is presented in excellent condition for its age and retains the iconic styling that has made Marshall’s Plexi amplifiers some of the most recognisable guitar amps ever produced.
