Here is a hard to find 1940's Gretsch 10x15" Parade Drum with the probable original strap. It looks most like the "High School Cadet" Snare Drum on page 67 of the 1941 Gretsch Catalog which can be found in a pdf posted online. This drum has thick mahogany ply shell on a maple (inside) ply shell with maple ply hoops and nickle-plated hardware and the khaki sling.

The drum has not been professionally cleaned. The wood has what I think is a cool distressed look from use years ago and the patina of the aged wood and metal have a certain beauty.

It has a slightly used batter head and a brand new snare-side head.

Here are the problems of this drum and strap:

  • It is missing the round badge. Evidence of it being a round badge can be seen very slightly around that air hole.
  • It is missing the drum key holder and the drum key. This explains the smaller holes.
  • The tension rod is bent, but still works with some difficulty. I unscrewed this rod all the way out and back without any tools (just my hands). I do not have the proper tools to safely straighten this rod so I'm leaving that to the next owner.
  • The top hoop is in need a simple glue fix but I'll leave that to the future owner.
  • One washer eyelet is a Slingerland - please see the photo.
  • The strap has material torn away from one rivet but the other rivet is still holding strong. There is some rust marks on parts of the strap. I made no attempt to wash or clean the strap.
  • The coiled wire snares are not perfect but OK, somewhat kinked and dirty and still rattle a bit.

I will gladly combine the shipping of multiple items together and refund the savings in shipping/handling costs to the buyer.
This item is sold as-is so please look at the photos.

I am NOT responsible for items that are recorded as delivered by the package service company tracking. If you are worried about porch pirates, etc., please either:

  • let me know and I will quote you a shipping price that includes signed delivery confirmation and/or insurance at an extra cost to you, or
  • you can find out how to let the delivery service (USPS, UPS, FedEx) divert it so that it is held by them in your area for you to pick up at their building
