Electronics

• Pickups: Two Gibson humbuckers, stamped with "Pat. 27 37 842". The pickups currently in situ may not be the originals, however, they appear to be Tim Shaw pickups which go for a lot of money individually. If they are Tim Shaw, then obviously they are not the original pickups as I believe Tim Shaw pickups were from the 1980's onwards. I'll let you do your own research, but refer to the photos with the engraved patent number and ink stamped date.
• Controls: Two volume, two tone, and a three-way pickup selector switch
• Knobs: Gold top-hat with silver reflector inserts 

I have had the jack replaced with a "Pure Tone" jack which is far superior, due to multiple contacts from the lead, with less chance of failure/buzz. The original is included as in the photo. There are obvious areas of significant wear as it is nearly 50 years old. The bridge saddles, stop-bar, pickup covers, are secure but I have not replaced as I wanted to keep it as original as possible, however, these items can be bought new. The pickup cream rings have slight warping but are not cracked, and again, can be replaced. There is a "dink" in the top section where the right arm/wrist would be coming into contact with the body and can be seen in the photos. The rear has belt buckle markings, but generally has no significant wear. The tuners have either been replaced or someone before me put different ones on as you can clearly see extra machine-head screw holes. The "G" string tuner has some surface cosmetic wear where the tuner comes into contact with the front of the headstock (may be dried transparent glue for a bushing), this may come off with gentle cleaning but I left as is. There is wear on the top binding with the fret marker "dots" (see photos) but the rear of the neck appears in good condition. The frets have probably about 70-80% play left in them and still have the "nibs" so they are, more than likely, the original frets. The nut appears solid and secure. The playability is fantastic in my opinion as it is a solid guitar, weighing about 10lbs 6oz (~4.7kg) so no weight relief here, which to me adds quality, unlike new models these days where the guitar has weight relief pockets in the wood! Metal casing in potentiometer compartment present which was Gibson's method for shielding back in the day. The body is a 1-piece mahogany with a lovely 3-piece top where you can see the different wood grains. 1970's "big" headstock with volute on neck to prevent headstock/neck breakages and as far as I know or can see, there have not been any breaks. Lovely 3-piece maple neck. The neck appears straight. The serial number decal came at the end of the 70's when Gibson started introducing the typical 8-digit impressed number.

8-digit number typically found on a decal on the back of the
headstock that can be dated by the 1st and 2nd digits as follows:

99 = 1975
00 = 1976
06 = 1977

1977-Present

8-digit number impressed into the back of the headstock with "MADE IN USA" impressed below the number. The format is as follows:

YDDDYRRR

YY indicates the last two digits of the production year

DDD indicates the day of the year

RRR is the factory ranking/plant designation number.

Hard case included. Item can be posted (obviously it will be fully insured, tracked, signature upon delivery etc.), but collection is safer and you'd also be able to try it out too. If you choose courier, I will package the guitar as securely as I can, but please be aware courier drivers do not pay attention to fragile/delicate items and so damages may occur. Please note in the photos, I have slackened the strings to prevent unnecessary neck tension whilst in transit, so the action may appear high, when in reality, the action has been set low when the strings are tightened.
