Personal Thoughts:
This is a really desirable Murphy Lab R9 and a great-looking example of the modern Heavy Aged formula. The Green Lemon Burst finish is the obvious standout feature here, because it gives the guitar a slightly different twist on the classic lemon burst look and makes it feel a bit more distinctive than the standard fade options. Paired with the Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment, it should have loads of that played-in vintage character people actually want from these guitars. The underlying spec is exactly what you would hope for as well, with the lightweight mahogany body, figured maple top, rosewood board and Custombucker set keeping it firmly in that late-’50s Les Paul lane. A very classy Custom Shop Les Paul and one of the more interesting burst shades to find on a Murphy Lab ’59 reissue.
Condition Report:
Excellent condition. Murphy Lab Heavy Aged finish is factory correct as part of the original spec. Aside from the intentional ageing, it presents very cleanly overall with only light signs of genuine handling and use.
