A true heavyweight from Marshall’s golden era — this 1978 JMP 2203 is the blueprint for high-powered British rock tone. Loud, punchy, and unapologetically aggressive, the 2203 defined the sound of late ’70s and ’80s rock and remains one of the most iconic circuits ever produced.

Overview

The 100-watt Master Model Lead is all about authority — massive headroom, crushing volume, and that unmistakable Marshall bite.

With its cascaded gain stage, the 2203 delivers everything from tight, articulate cleans to thick, saturated overdrive, all with incredible clarity and note separation.

Compared to its 50-watt counterpart (2204), the 2203 offers:

• More headroom and low-end depth
• A firmer, more percussive response
• Greater stage presence and punch
  

This is the amp that stays clean longer — but when it goes, it delivers that huge, chest-hitting drive that defined a generation.

Plug into a proper 4x12 and you’re straight into classic hard rock territory.
