Personal Thoughts:
This is a really desirable Murphy Lab R9 and a great-looking example of the modern Heavy Aged formula. Aged Cherry Burst is a brilliant finish on a ’59 reissue, as it has all the right late-’50s burst character but with a little more warmth and richness than some of the lighter faded options. Paired with the Murphy Lab Heavy Aged treatment, it should have loads of that properly broken-in vintage character people actually want from these guitars. The underlying spec is exactly what you would hope for as well, with the lightweight mahogany body, figured maple top, rosewood board and Custombucker set keeping it firmly in that classic late-’50s Les Paul lane. A very classy Custom Shop Les Paul and one of the strongest modern burst formulas Gibson offers.
Condition Report:
Mint condition. Murphy Lab Heavy Aged finish is factory correct as part of the original spec. No additional wear of note beyond the intentional ageing.
