For sale is a professional-grade pair of Matador Congas from the highly sought-after late 1980s/early 1990s transition era.
These drums feature the rare "Matador by CP" (Cosmic Percussion) badges, marking the period when LP moved Matador production to Thailand using their heavy-duty professional specifications. Unlike modern budget lines, these shells are thick-walled Siam Oak with incredible projection and "thump."
Key Features & Specifications:
- Sizes: 11.75" Conga and 12.5" Tumba (The larger, more desirable pair).
- Rims: Original Traditional Flat Rims (not the modern rounded ones), preferred by many pros for a crisper slap and vintage feel.
- Hardware: Heavy-duty "Horned" side plates featuring the original LP stamped logo.
- Heads: Original CP Matador branded rawhide skins in excellent condition—rare to find original skins from this era still in such great shape.
- Condition: Excellent working order. The shells are solid with no cracks. There are minor surface scratches consistent with age (player wear), but they have been well-cared for and sound superb. Internal factory handwritten markings confirm the late 80s/early 90s production provenance.
Note: These do not come with stands (drums only).
These are "player’s drums" that bridge the gap between vintage LP Classics and modern Matadors. A rare opportunity to own a "time capsule" set from a classic era of LP production.
