It's with regret that I have to sell my pair of vintage Marshall "1969" (1969 is the model number) speaker cabinets, however a lack of space forces my hand.

I bought these cabinets a few years ago in a shocking state and against better judgement I decided to have them refurbished. Both cabinets were missing their tolex bar some miniscule remnants, and during stripping it was discovered that one was originally finished in purple levant with brown and cream basketweave. Note, the brown and cream basketweave was a very short run of grill cloth used during the late 60's on the purple and red finished cabinets and is different to "salt and pepper" and plain brown basketweave. I have remnants I can show you to prove of its existence (some people don't believe it ever existed!)

I decided to have both cabinets refurbished in the colour scheme you see here, which is the closest I can get them to how Marshall produced the original purple cabinets of the late 60's. Work includes:

  • Full strip down of cabinets
  • Replacement of one baffle board and one pair of back panels with new replacements made to original specification
  • Refinish both cabinets in purple levant tolex with specially imported "milk and honey" basketweave grille cloth
  • New handles to original build specification
  • New feet to original build specification

The cabinet refurbishment was carried out by FA Guitar Cabs who have done a fantastic job.

The speakers fitted consist of seven late 1960's "Pre-Rola" Celestion T1221 G12M Greenbacks (four are definitely original to these cabinets) and one 1974 Celestion T1221 G12M Creamback. Of the eight speakers, four have been reconed as the original cones were in a poor state and could not be saved. I've arranged the speakers so that the two top speakers in each cabinet have their original Pulsonic cones, and the two bottom speakers are the recones. The speaker refurbishment was carried out by Wembley Loudspeakers who have been completed the work to an exceptional standard.

These cabinets look great, sound fabulous and if I had the space they would not be for sale. Please do not underestimate their size! As a result they are sold for collection only from near Yate, South Gloucestershire, UK.
