If you want hands-on tactile mixing without taking up your entire desk, the X-Touch Compact hits the sweet spot. Features 9 touch-sensitive 100mm motorized faders, 16 dual-layer rotary encoders with LED collars, and 39 backlit buttons. It includes a MIDI hub supporting both USB A and Din connectors.

It supports Mackie Control (MCU) and standard MIDI/HUI modes out of the box for direct integration with Cubase, Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools, or Reaper. It can also operate as a standalone MIDI controller via the editor software.

I've found that this is excellent at what it does, but with this, an interface and a drum machine on my desk I am running out of space for what in my home is a multi purpose desk, so I've opted to go for an all in one unit to replace the interface and this with a smaller combined footprint. It has hardly been used - the overlays have never been used.
