Drums obtained in excellent original, or very near original condition, are kept as found and preserved. Drums combined into kits or receiving restorations, come from stock found in non-original condition but still in round, with good bearing edges, and no non-factory holes. Restorations are consistent with the original character of their time.

About Single Tension Drums:
Single tension drums that are in round and have even bearing edges tune up with ease. The tuning range is more narrow compared to a dual tension drum. Tympanic pressure of 72 - 75 on a drum dial is the low to mid range generally speaking. They can tune higher for a more crisp snare report. Having no options for different tensions on batter and resonant heads proper tuning is equal tension. This of course produces the greatest resonance from the drum shell. The shells vary from thick to thin. Some have large reinforcement rings that not only keep the drum in round, they also dampen some resonance. Recommend Remo Emperor heads or actual calfskin heads for most classic tone. Once tuned up, just add your preference and method for dampening as desired and that's it! You're Cleared For Takeoff…
