The Old Europe, founded in 2011, is a restoration shop located in Hamburg, Germany.
I specialize in the restoration and sale of affordable and neglected vintage guitars, basses, lutes, mandolins and other musical gear.

I have been restoring old an neglected guitars since 2009.
If you buy an old, used guitar from ebay, craigslist, even reverb or any other platform (flea market!), chances are that in 99 out of 100 cases it is in unenjoyable, even unplayable condition. And still, a lot of merchants on reverb and elsewhere nowadays take top dollar for these unrestored, unplayable attic and basement finds. Missing parts, grimy frets, bowed necks - you name it. Not to mention you have no clue what it sounds and plays like.

That's what I can guarantee you is not the case in my offerings, and still they come for fairer prices than most other sellers on reverb.
The restoration process includes a disassembly and inspection for damages, then a general clean-up of all parts within reasonable limits, polishing the frets and oiling the fretboard, replacing and fixing broken parts, and in many cases putting a vintage guitar back to as original state as reasonable and possible. Electronics are checked and restored if need be.

I even make many affordable vintage guitars more enjoyable than they ever were!

Last but not least every guitar is set up as good as possible with a set of new strings. The setup might not always mean that playability is up to modern (shredding-comfortable) standards - which is quite normal with vintage guitars.

Unlike most other sellers of affordable vintage guitars we deliver the guitars in cleaned, complete, fixed, restored and immediately playable condition (unless sold as broken or with known issues).

If not, we generally take back any guitar with no bickering if the buyer doesn't like it for whatever reason within 14 days after delivery.
