Waves Introduces New PRS SuperModels Amp Plugin

Amp simulators are becoming more and more popular in all forms, from pedalboard-friendly stomboxes and compact heads promising accurate emulations of genuine tube break-up to software plugins with seemingly endless combinable choices.

This year, Waves (a leader in audio plugin software for recording, mixing, and mastering) has partnered with Paul Reed Smith to bring to the market the PRS SuperModels plugin—a collection of three, top-of-the-line PRS guitar amplifiers.

Users looking for great lead tone can use the PRS Archon for shimmering cleans and aggressive overdrives, while the PRS Dallas provides the more classic tones of American reverb tube amps. The third amp included in the plugin package is the ultra-rare, never-before-released (even in its hardware form) PRS Blue Sierra/V9. The sounds you can get from the Blue Sierra/V9 are like those of boutique American offerings—crisp cleans and great medium-gain overdrive tones.

Users can choose from eight different speaker cabinet IRs of different sizes with different sounds that were captured by Paul Reed Smith and Waves at PRS's personal studio using his own high-end mics and preamps. And if you have favorite third-party IRs, you can add up to two of those simultaneously, as well.
