This week's Find of the Week is a strange spin on a classic instrument owned by its very namesake: it's a 1981 Gibson Les Paul Custom that formerly belonged to Les Paul himself.
This instrument's owner needs little introduction, but a little word about where it came from: in the summer of 2012, auction house Julien's sold several instruments and pieces of studio equipment that belonged to the innovator of the solid-body electric guitar. These included a 1951 Fender Nocaster, a 1927 Gibson L-5, a 16-track API console, not to mention the instrument pictured above.
This Les Paul Custom comes equipped with an all-natural mahogany body, a three-piece maple neck, and an unorthodox maple fingerboard. It's wired with gold-covered Tim Shaw-stamped humbuckers, as well as an unused black pickguard complete with the original cellophane. Last but not least, it will ship from London in its original case.
