Ibanez Announces ES3 Echo Shifter, 3 More New Pedals | NAMM 2020

Ahead of NAMM 2020, the year's biggest gear event coming up later this month, Ibanez has announced a slew of effects ranging from a new version of a modern classic to what could be a pint-sized pedalboard staple.

Perhaps the most interesting of the lot is the ES3, an updated version of the company's popular ES2 Echo Shifter. Players love that original for the hand-held control of delay times offered by the pedal's console-style slider, along with its all-analog signal path and tones and digital control circuit. Add in the modulation circuit, oscillation mode, and tap tempo, and you'll see why it was praised as a unique and affordable delay unit.

The new ES3 will offer all of the same analog functionality and tone, but allows you to switch to a new digital delay mode as well. This means you can have 40ms–600ms of analog delay time or up to 1,500ms of digital. (Worth noting: The analog delay time range on the ES2 is larger than the ES3's, going from 30ms–1,000ms.)

The WH10V3 is also an update, this time, the Ibanez wah pedal favored by the Red Hot Chili Pepper's John Frusciante, who recently rejoined the group. Now in its third iteration, the WH10 keeps players coming back for its multiple feedback op-amp circuit, which nails primo filter sweeps for both guitar and bass. This new rendition comes with an added switch for toggling between buffered and true bypass outs to preserve every bit of your tone.

First up are the two new little guys: the Tremolo Mini and the Flanger Mini. The Trem is a new design sporting controls for Wave, Speed, and Depth, along with an internal level trimpot. The Flanger appears to borrow from the '80s classic FL9 and axes the touchy Delay control in favor of an intuitive Depth/Regen/Speed trio of controls.

The WH10V3 wah is up for pre-order on Reverb now, at a price of $129.99 and an expected ship date this spring. The price and release date for the other new pedals is still unknown.
