Built by Retrovox Vintage Audio, this custom passive guitar extension cabinet preserves an original 1972 Zenith speaker system while adapting it for reliable use with modern guitar amplifiers. The original cabinet and factory-installed speaker remain together, producing a punchy, articulate vintage voice with controlled low end, clear mids, and an immediate response that works especially well at home and recording volumes.

The cabinet retains its original Zenith styling, including the walnut-look finish, dark woven grille cloth, silver inner trim, and original Zenith badge. A standard 1/4-inch mono speaker input has been installed on the rear for convenient connection to modern guitar amplifiers.

Inside is the original Zenith factory speaker manufactured in 1972. The driver carries the Zenith assembly number 71-1332 and a production date code ending in 7220, indicating manufacture during the 20th week of 1972. It was built by GEFCO, Zenith's affiliated loudspeaker manufacturing operation, specifically for use in Zenith equipment rather than as a generic aftermarket replacement.

The original paper-cone driver proved to be an unexpectedly strong guitar speaker during testing. Compared with several other vintage cabinet and speaker combinations, the Zenith delivered quick attack, tight low-frequency response, clear note separation, and a lively upper-mid presence without becoming harsh.

Clean tones remain focused and articulate, while overdrive and fuzz retain definition instead of collapsing into loose or muddy distortion. The cabinet works especially well for rhythm guitar, blues, classic rock, garage rock, early hard rock, indie, surf, harmonica, and recording applications where punch and vintage character are more important than high volume.

This cabinet is intended for appropriately powered amplifiers and sensible volume levels. As with any original vintage speaker, conservative use is recommended to preserve the driver. It is particularly well suited for low-watt tube amplifiers, compact solid-state heads, Bogen conversions, Hotone Nano amplifiers, Joyo Bantamp models, Orange Micro-series heads, and similar equipment.

The cabinet is in good vintage used condition with cosmetic wear, finish marks, and age-related patina consistent with an original early-1970s Zenith speaker enclosure. The original grille, badge, cabinet, and speaker remain intact.

A YouTube sound demonstration of this exact cabinet is included in the listing so you can hear its response and character before purchasing.
