☆Rare Vintage 1970s Shure Special 57 (SM57 Unidyne III) Dynamic Microphone │ Randall May International Internal Mounting System

• Made during the 1970s to early 1980s and uses a vintage SM57 capsule that was still made in the USA (Unidyne III)

• Full frequency response and new foam inside grille

For sale is a Special 57 which was a collaboration during 1970s with Shure and Randall May which utilized the capsules from the infamous SM57 alongside custom housing/mounts for use within drum kits! These microphones were sold by Randall May International, although Shure supplied them the SM57 capsules to make this microphone a reality. The difference with the SM57 is Randy May incorporated a custom housing for the lower portion and shockmounting that would work perfectly for mounting the microphones internally.

Functionally, this microphone is perfect with a full sound signature that you know and love with vintage Shure mics. The original foam was also removed and replaced, and luckily it was still intact, just barely hanging on after so many years protecting that capsule. Now with the new foam, this microphone is ready to be used and admired for many more years.

Cosmetically, it is in great shape too with only light signs of wear and tear. It would be hard to say this microphone does not look great, but keep in mind it is fairly old just to tamper expectations. That being said, nothing on this Special 57 gives any pause or would make me question longevity.

Lastly, nowadays you can still buy this type of microphone from Randall May International, although it is no longer a special 57... nor is the capsule used made in the USA!
