Northwest Vintage Guitars proudly presents a 1930's Kenzo Yamada Violin No 1330.  Kenzo was the nephew of Mr Suzuki - yes, that Suzuki.  Kenzo forged his own path and quickly became the premier violinmaker in Japan.  His son and grandson carried on that tradition.  This example is excellent.  Tight grained Uzo Spruce top, AAA Flame Maple back and sides.  It's sublime with that dark stain.  The body is light, the bridge is original, and the tone is woody and rich.  It's very impressive with a smooth, clear voice that's defined in the low end and refined on the high end.  Clearly a top shelf instrument.

This one measures 23.6" overall length, or approx 600 mm.  It has a 12 5/8" scale or approx 322 mm.  So that puts it at what most would consider a full sized Yamada or a big 7/8 size.

There are 3 repaired top cracks under the bridge that have been solid for a while.  They are not cleated.  We believe the pegs, nut and saddle are all original.  They all work well but could use refinement for the discerning player.  Currently professionally set up and strung with Thomasik Dominants.  No alterations were made for setup, it's all stock sans the fine tuners.

Similar examples of Master Kenzo Yamada's instruments regularly trade in the $5000-6000 US range.  This is a player grade steal at this price.  Includes the period correct case with one finicky latch and a repaired hinge.  The unbranded and unmarked bow has a crack near the frog and needs a re-hair as pictured.
