About This Listing

Very nice and just serviced Technics SL-1800 MK I legendary turntable from the late 1970s. This one, as seen in the pictures, is in really nice condition - does have a few marks on the plinth on the far right and left corners as shown, but really very minor especially considering it’s age. The dustcover has survived and looks decent, does have a crack by the back left hinge and scratches on the top, but it really does look pretty good - hinges work well, and it opens and closes with no issues. The original 4 feet are intact and the table sits level. All in all, for a turntable that is 45 years old, it looks pretty incredible!

The turntable was disassembled and fully serviced - speed controls both plinth level and circuit board, were treated so that speed via the 1800s direct drive technology locks in with no drift. The tonearm was also removed, lubricated, and new 500,000 weight oil installed on queue shaft to ensure proper ascent and decent when using the manual quelever - so your tonearm doesn’t drop full force on the record when using queuing. Gold end RCA connectors were proactively installed so that a quality connection is made when connecting to your amplification source - and ensuring silence / no annoying background hum.

This is a true audiophile turntable and is fully manual. It does have a queue function to raise and lower tonearm to the record if desired. The table and tonearm are suspended within the base to minimize noise from shock or vibration. As such, this is a very heavy turntable, weighing in at 8.5 Kg. In addition, the 1800 supports incredible specs - .025 wow and flutter - .73db rumble.

The turntable will ship with the original Technics headshell and a vintage Stanton 500 cartridge/stylus. The stylus is operational and may be perfectly acceptable to its new owner, but I would probably keep the cartridge and upgrade the stylus for optimal performance.

This is a very nice vintage piece - it’s definitely not cosmetically perfect, but looks presentable and performs extremely well.

I will carefully pack and ship via Reverbs safe ship program for added protection.
