RAVI SHANKAR Style Sitars ( this listing ) have two extra bass strings (Low Pa - fifth - and Low Sa -tonic- ) thus giving them an extra bass octave. This adds a Surbahar ( bass sitar) like feeling to the Sitar.

Ravi shankar style Sitars are best in C# tuning, they have very a bright and open sound and are more highly decorate then Vilayat khan style sitars ( but you can request very simple decor - the price will be a little less- if you prefer that because we are making to order )

The listing price includes a world class flight case which you can choose to be in black or red.

Your Sitar will be made to order identical to this listing, though you can request some alterations to the decoration design if you would like that.

You will need to allow up to 2 - 3 weeks for the making of this instrument and 2 - 3 weeks to arrive in the post to you (unless you are in India where it will take around one week to arrive ).

You will have access to full communication with me while it’s being made and will be given regular updates and pictures of your actual instrument at different stages of the creation process.

Our Sitars and Tampuras are made by our small team or 3rd generation makers in our workshop in Miraj, India. Miraj is a main centre of craftsmanship for these instruments.

We guarantee the highest quality bespoke instruments, we will not compromise on craftsmanship in the creation process.

These are professional Sitars made with pure mahogany, you can feel safe your instrument will be made with the best materials and delivered safely in a world class flight/ hard case anywhere in the world

We understand it can feel like a risk ordering something so large and precious online and have it delivered half way across the planet ! But you have our guarantee the instrument will arrive without a scratch. Our hard cases are world class and we further pack the hole case in plenty of protective spongy type material so even the hard case itself is totally protected. We have never had one instrument damaged in transit.
