About This Listing

This Silvertone Colorama “Kentucky Blue” was made in the mid to late 1950s and was sold in the historic Sears catalog.   It is an archtop acoustic model with f-holes and a stunning original paint job.  This one is in great cosmetic shape for its age.  Very bright colors, original pickguard, etc. of course there are some scratches and wear marks - See photos for details of condition.  All parts (except the strap button) are present and original.    Many that I have seen are missing half of the adjustable bridge -  This one is complete.  Even the Kluson Deluxe tuners are in remarkable condition.  Those alone are valuable!  To get even better, it also includes the original chipboard case which is also in good shape.

From a playability standpoint the frets are in great shape but it does have high string action, especially with the adjustable bridge fully assembled.  Some people re-set the neck on these to make them into good players.  Without doing that it could be a good slide guitar or just an awesome collectors display piece.  It is certainly a unique and striking guitar to look at.   I decided to leave the very old strings on it to retain all the vintage mojo of an almost 70 year old guitar.

As a fun bonus, this model was featured on the cover of Acoustic Guitar Magazine with Dave Grohl of Nirvana and Foo Fighters fame.  It seems Dave played this guitar model as a young man.  The magazine will also be included with the sale.

Such a fun display piece for someone who remembers one of these from their youth, a Dave Grohl fan, or just someone who appreciates a unique original vintage musical instrument.
