Saturnworks Dark Matter Vacuum Tube Clean Boost / Overdrive / Distortion Guitar Pedal

Want a warm tube sound? How about using a tube?

Several years ago, someone asked us to build a Valvecaster-type tube overdrive pedal. Powered by an 12AU7 vacuum tube, the Valvecaster produces a huge volume boost, but adds only a bit of tube overdrive. The original design left some to be desired, so after playing with the design, we came up with the Dark Matter. The Saturnworks Dark Matter has higher gain and warmer tube grit than the original Valvecaster.

The Dark Matter combines both solid state and tube clean boost/overdrive circuits to create a pedal that can do a full-sounding clean boost, warm tube overdrive, saturated distortion, and everything in between. Either of the two circuits can be used separately or can be combined to your send your tone into overdrive bliss.

The Dark Matter features high quality components

*The Dark Matter tube pedals runs on standard 9v DC center-negative power. However, the power requirement is higher than most of our pedals at around 150mA. The power supply must therefore be able to supply 150mA or more. The power supply must also be high quality in order to avoid noise issues with the tube circuit.

Please note: you may notice slight scratchiness with the gain control on the tube circuit. This is a normal characteristic of this circuit and does not indicate an issue with the pedal.
