NS-2 Fretless – Natural Gloss – Woodstock Custom Collection

Jon’s NS-2 is a subtle and refined take on the classic Spector design with a tonal palette inspired by one of his favorite singer-songwriters. This instrument is crafted with black walnut body wings with a stunning flame maple top, a three-piece maple neck, fretless ebony fingerboard and a 34” scale length. For electronics, this bass is equipped with passive Lindy Fralin P/J pickups with a simple and effective passive volume, tone, and blend controls. Aesthetically, this instrument features a vintage-tint gloss finish, abalone dot inlays, and gold hardware.

“My intention for my build was to create an instrument of simple and beautiful materials including flamed maple, walnut, and a dark ebony fretless fingerboard, with the classic Spector design. I added an extra detail, as I favor the blue abalone, over plastic, for the side dots, as well as face dots for position markers. We went to create a sound similar to the basses
on recordings by Joni Mitchell and I believe that worked out well.” - Jon Freid
