ThorpyFX EAO Fuzz Pedal

The ThorpyFX EAO Fuzz Pedal takes one of Adrian Thorpe's favorite vintage fuzz circuits, the Burns Buzzaround, and puts that inspiration into a smaller, more pedalboard-friendly format. The EAO uses three NOS germanium transistors, a NOS germanium diode, and an onboard transformer to deliver the vintage-focused response ThorpyFX was after, while making the circuit practical enough for a modern rig. Sustain, Tone, Volume, and Bias controls are highly interactive, with Bias in particular taking the pedal from thinner, spottier fuzz textures into a much fuller and more aggressive gain sound.

The Sustain control brings in the long, violin-like sustain this circuit is known for, while Tone moves from thicker, bass-heavy fuzz to a sharper, treble-focused response. Volume keeps the overall output manageable as you push Bias and Sustain into louder settings. The onboard transformer is an especially useful addition because it allows the EAO to sit comfortably in different positions on your pedalboard rather than demanding a particular spot in the signal chain. We think that's a big part of the appeal here; you get an old-school germanium fuzz design with enough control and flexibility to make it considerably easier to work into a current setup.
