Classic API 550B 4-band discrete analog EQ in 500-series format. This is one of API’s most recognized EQ designs and is excellent for tracking, mixing, and adding the classic API character to drums, vocals, guitars, bass, synths, and mix buses.
The 550B features four overlapping EQ bands with selectable frequencies, stepped boost/cut controls for easy recall, and API’s proportional-Q design, where the bandwidth becomes narrower as more boost or cut is applied. It’s a very musical EQ that can make significant tonal changes without sounding harsh or overly processed.
This unit has been professionally used in my commercial recording studio and is fully functional.
