Up for sale is a bench-serviced FMR Audio RNC1773 (Really Nice Compressor) stereo analog compressor, serial number RNC18291.

Widely considered one of the most transparent stereo compressors ever made, the RNC1773 delivers high-end dynamic control for drums, vocals, acoustic instruments, and mix busses at a fraction of the cost of large-format rack gear.

Unlike standard used units that often suffer from aging internal power filtering, elevated noise floor, or intermittent jack connections over time, this unit has been fully overhauled and bench-tested to deliver pristine, dead-silent studio performance.

Bench Service & Technical Overhaul:

• Power Supply Recapped with Nichicon Capacitors: All electrolytic capacitors in the internal power supply section were replaced with high-grade, long-life Nichicon capacitors. Because the RNC1773 regulates power internally from an AC adapter, installing premium Nichicon caps significantly reduces power-rail ripple, eliminates AC hum, and guarantees stable rail voltages for maximum headroom and a dead-silent noise floor.
• Reflowed Connections & Potentiometers: PCB solder joints across the rear I/O, sidechain inserts, and front-panel potentiometers were inspected and reflowed to eliminate cold solder joints, crackle, or signal dropouts.
• Full Bench Verification: Audio path, stereo tracking, gain reduction metering, SuperNice mode, and bypass switches fully tested and verified 100% to factory specification.

Key Features:

• Stereo dynamic range processor in a compact 1/3-rack format
• Two operating modes: Normal Mode (for punchy, traditional compression) and SuperNice Mode (cascaded triple-VCA processing for near-invisible, low-artifact compression)
• Full manual control suite: Threshold, Ratio, Attack, Release, and Gain
• 8-segment LED gain-reduction meter
• TRS Sidechain insert for external ducking/filtering
• Unbalanced 1/4" I/O with tip/ring insert compatibility for easy console routing

Included:

• FMR Audio RNC1773 (Serial # RNC18291)
• Compatible AC Power Supply Adapter

Condition Notes: Chassis and faceplate are in excellent cosmetic condition with crisp lettering and clean red knobs. Operated exclusively in a smoke-free, climate-controlled studio environment.
