A Solid Workhorse Ready for the Stage

The Yamaha A-Series has a reputation for punching well above its price tag, and the AC1M VN is a good example of why. It's a concert-body cutaway acoustic-electric built around a solid Sitka spruce top, mahogany back and sides, and Yamaha's own SRT piezo pickup — the kind of guitar that works just as well in a living room as it does going into a PA at a coffeehouse gig.

The Vintage Natural finish keeps things warm and understated, letting the wood grain do the talking. The concert-size body sits comfortably whether you're sitting or standing, and the cutaway means you're not locked out of anything above the 12th fret. If you've been shopping for a giggable acoustic-electric that doesn't make you wince every time it goes in the trunk, this is worth a long look.

This is a B-Stock unit direct from Yamaha, inspected and set up by our in-house licensed tech before it goes home with you.

This item is a B-Stock guitar sourced directly from the manufacturer. It is new and has never been previously owned. The photos shown are of the exact instrument you will receive. Before shipment, our licensed technician will inspect and professionally set up the guitar to ensure it is playing its best. During our inspection, we noticed Dent on tip of headstock, offset EQ cover gasket. (see pictures) Please note, these may not be the only cosmetic imperfections. As a B-Stock instrument, there may be additional minor blemishes that are small in nature and do not affect playability or performance.

Solid Top, Scalloped Bracing — More Volume Without the Fluff

The top is solid Sitka spruce — not a veneer, not laminate. Sitka is the gold standard for acoustic guitar tops because it's stiff, light, and responsive across a wide dynamic range. Whether you're fingerpicking softly or digging in hard, the top tracks your playing faithfully.

Yamaha fitted the AC1M with scalloped bracing under that top, which allows the wood to flex more freely and produces noticeably better low-mid response and overall projection compared to traditional straight bracing. The mahogany back and sides add warmth and focus to the tone — less shimmer than rosewood, more punch in the midrange where acoustic guitars often need it most when played live.

The SRT Pickup: A Pickup That Actually Sounds Like Your Guitar

Acoustic pickups have a long history of making guitars sound worse than they do unplugged. Yamaha's Studio Response Technology (SRT) piezo pickup is specifically designed to capture the natural acoustic voice of the guitar rather than a thin, harsh undersaddle approximation. The System 66 preamp gives you volume control, a built-in chromatic tuner, 3-band EQ, and a midrange frequency slider — so you can dial out any room-honk without just cutting the mids globally.

The result is a plugged-in tone that feels connected to the instrument, not like a separate electronic simulation. That's a meaningful thing when you're actually trying to hear yourself on a small stage.

The Neck: Built for Real-World Playing

Yamaha calls it the "High Comfort" neck profile, and it earns that name. The straight taper design eases access to the upper frets, and the hand-rolled fingerboard edges give the neck a broken-in feel that normally takes years of playing to develop. The rosewood fingerboard is smooth and comfortable under your fingers, and at 1.69" nut width, it's a familiar fit for anyone coming from a standard steel-string.

The neck joins the body at the 14th fret — standard for a concert body — and the cutaway gives you clean access above that point. The dovetail neck joint keeps everything solid and in tune. Scale length is 25.6", right in the standard acoustic territory.
