[A legendary Japanese-made snare drum from Yamaha! A very early model YD9000 series snare drum, manufactured in the late 1970s, has arrived!]

~YD9000~
Featuring a 100% birch shell, one-piece lugs, and a beautifully glossy paint finish, this model can be considered the origin of Yamaha's system drums.
At the time, maple was the most popular drum shell material and became a staple in American jazz drumming.
On the other hand, through my research on pianos and wind instruments, I realized that birch wood is an ideal material for drum shells.
Furthermore, piano manufacturing techniques were applied to drums, and instead of the veneer covering that was common at the time, a painted finish was used.
All of our technological capabilities were poured into this historic model.
By combining a hard birch shell with one-piece lugs, this instrument achieves a sharper and more solid sound, making it the envy of top drummers worldwide.
Its sound was said to be ideally suited for recording, and the YD9000 became the most widely used drum set for recording in history. The YD9000 was later renamed "Recording Custom" and remains widely used today.

-SD970A-
Even now, more than 40 years after its initial release, this model remains a favorite among many users and was Yamaha's top-of-the-line model at the time.
This SD970A is an early model that debuted in 1977, and this one comes in the most popular real wood color.
The shell is made from 100% carefully selected, high-quality birch wood and equipped with high-tension lugs, resulting in exceptional sound projection.
With its stable sound thanks to high-tension lugs, this snare drum boasts a solid, sharp attack with excellent response and a well-balanced sound with prominent mid-low frequencies, making it renowned for its excellent microphone pickup.
As a snare drum that can handle everything from rock to jazz, the wood shell is also available in a deep 7-inch type.
It uses a snare wire with long snare wires that cover the entire surface, so even with a light touch or roll, the sound does not clip and resonates clearly.
A double-bolt system allows for fine adjustment of the snare tension. The 10 bolts enable precise tuning.

Size: 14 x 7
Shell: Birch 6-ply Finish: Real wood Strainer: Full contact (Snare wires have been replaced with Pearl brand)

*Please note that as this is a vintage item, there may be scratches, stains, pitting, rust on parts, etc.
