A pretty rare Quality Pre-Owned Cornerstone BIG MAN GLADIO Guitar Effect Pedal (original box)Whether you call them D-Style pedals or Dumble-inspired overdrives, gain stompboxes attempting to emulate the voicing of the ultra-rare Dumble amps are probably the second most hyped overdrives after the (still unreachable) Klon clones.Based in Varese, Italy, Cornerstone Gear is a family-owned company focused on designing and hand-building guitar and bass effects pedals, and so far it’s been squarely focused on the gain realm, with the exception of a compressor. The Cornerstone Gladio is a versatile D-Style double preamp featuring two independent channels with different voicing, which allows for extra flavors when combined together. Presented as “a realistic tube-compression preamp able to take the sound into saturation [and yet] retaining a rich touch-sensitive response and realistic compression,” the Gladio was built with in mind the tone of artists like Robben Ford or Eric Johnson. The Two Channels (The Tonal Identities)The core design of the Big Gladio revolves around two distinct, independent channels tailored around the signature sounds of legendary Dumble users:Channel 1 (The Robben Ford Side): Inspired by the smooth, creamy, and articulate touch-sensitivity found on tracks like “Cannonball Shuffle”. It is highly dynamic, transparent, and features a dedicated Comp toggle switch to choose between two compression levels.Channel 2 (The Sonny Landreth Side): Designed to emulate a hard-driving, hotter Dumble tone with a slightly fuzzy edge, built with slide guitar styles in mind. It includes a Jazz / Rock toggle switch to drastically shift the frequency response.Core Controls & FeaturesIndependent Controls: Both preamps feature individual Gain, Tone, and Volume knobs.Centre Toggle Switch (Routing Mode): This control defines how the footswitches interact:S (Single Mode): Acts like an A/B switcher. Pressing one channel automatically shuts off the other.D (Double Mode): Allows you to cascade and stack both channels together for massive sustain and a rich, multi-layered lead tone.
