Scrolls is a fully analogue bass preamp, drive, EQ and DI pedal designed in collaboration with Japanese bass tone specialist Kentaro Nakao. Built to shape the natural character of your instrument into a wide range of bass, amp and cabinet-style tones, it works equally well as a front-end tone shaper, recording DI, live ampless rig, or final-stage bass preamp.
The right side of Scrolls features a tube amp-inspired Drive section with detailed control over saturation and low-end response. The Blend control lets you mix clean signal back into the driven tone, preserving clarity and weight, while the Bandwidth control changes where the clipping is most active. Turn it counterclockwise for clipping focused more heavily in the low frequencies, or clockwise for more upper-frequency drive character.
The left side houses a powerful active EQ section with Bass, Middle and Treble controls, plus a Variable Frequency control that can cut or boost from roughly 20Hz to 10kHz. This makes Scrolls highly effective for removing muddiness, adding articulation, tightening the low end, or pushing upper harmonics forward without losing the core feel of the bass.
Three push-button switches provide quick access to useful tone-shaping options, while the onboard effects loop sits between the Drive and EQ sections. This allows modulation and other effects to be placed after the drive stage while still letting the EQ shape the full signal at the end of the chain.
For live and studio use, Scrolls includes both a standard ¼" output and a balanced XLR output with analogue speaker cabinet simulation. It can run directly into a bass amp, straight to front of house, or into an audio interface for recording without an amplifier.
