Active 3-way studio monitor with coaxial point source
The Palmer ORBIT 11 is a high-precision active 3-way studio monitor designed for professional applications such as mixing, mastering, post-production, broadcasting, sound design and content creation. Thanks to its coaxial true point-source design, it delivers a particularly stable stereo image and precise reproduction across the entire listening area.
At its heart is a coaxial loudspeaker architecture in which a 6.5" midrange driver and a 1" tweeter operate on a common acoustic axis. This design ensures coherent sound dispersion and a constant directivity pattern of 120° × 120°, significantly expanding the sweet spot.
With 1,000 watts of Class D amplifier power, an extended frequency range down to 28 Hz and advanced DSP processing, the ORBIT 11 delivers the precision and dynamics required by professional studios.
Coaxial True Point Source Design for precise sound imagingThe ORBIT 11’s coaxial design enables particularly time-coherent reproduction. The shared axis of the tweeter and midrange driver creates a stable and precise sound image with uniform directivity.
The result is a reliable representation of the soundstage, depth and balance – crucial for mixing and mastering decisions.
Impulse-compensated dual subwoofers for controlled bassFor the low-frequency range, the monitor utilises two impulse-compensated 8" woofers. This design reduces mechanical vibrations and ensures particularly precise bass reproduction without unwanted resonances.
The robust die-cast aluminium cabinet, with wall thicknesses of up to 16 mm, further minimises cabinet vibrations and enables impressively deep bass reproduction down to 28 Hz.
New technologies for maximum sound precisionCardioid design for controlled sound dispersion
The specially developed front baffle produces a cardioid pattern in the low-frequency range. This reduces rear sound energy, which minimises disruptive room reflections and improves precision in the listening area.
Linear phase via FIR filters
The internal signal processing utilises FIR filters with 96 kHz / 24-bit DSP to ensure linear phase response and optimal temporal alignment of all drivers. This results in a particularly clear and coherent sound image.
Optimised low end for better room coupling
The specially developed low-end design improves the loudspeaker’s wall coupling and reduces disruptive cancellations in the bass range. As a result, the low frequencies remain precise and controlled even in real-world studio environments.
Professional connectivity optionsThe ORBIT 11 offers flexible integration options for modern studios. In addition to a balanced XLR line input, AES3 digital audio via XLR is also available.
The AES3 Thru output allows multiple speakers to be easily connected in a daisy-chain configuration.
Quick setup and flexible mountingThe control panel on the top panel provides quick access to key settings such as the 3-band EQ, input pad, desk or wall presets, and an 80 Hz high-pass filter.
For installations, the monitor features threaded mounting points and M8 eyelets and is compatible with the Gravity GSPWMBS30B wall bracket, making ceiling or wall mounting straightforward; the Gravity bracket is
Interesting factsCoaxial studio monitors are considered particularly precise because the tweeter and midrange driver emit sound from the same acoustic source. This results in fewer phase issues and a more stable stereo image. This design helps to assess the soundstage, transients and depth perception much more reliably, particularly during mixing and mastering sessions.
