Fender Custom Vibrolux Reverb is a 40-watt all-tube guitar combo that was produced between 1995 and 2013 and is often called the "Little Vibro-King" by connoisseurs.
This amplifier is not a direct reissue, but a modern interpretation of the classic Fender Vibrolux Reverb, designed by the Fender Custom Shop (with contributions from Bruce Zinky). The key features are:
- Power & Speakers: 40 watts of output with two 10-inch Jensen P10R speakers with alnico magnets.
- Channels: Two independent channels (Normal and Bright), both with access to tube reverb and vibrato.
- Tubes (Buizen): 2x 6L6 (amplifier), 5x 12AX7 (preamp) and 1x 12AT7 (reverb/vibrato).
- Sound character: Due to the absence of a negative feedback loop, the amplifier breaks up faster (around volume 5-6) than a standard Vibrolux, resulting in a more aggressive overdrive, fast attack, and more mid-frequencies, ideal for rock and blues.
- Points to consider: Users often report a higher noise floor (hiss) as a disadvantage of the circuit without negative feedback.
