About this listing
The Fender® American Vintage II series offers a remarkably accurate take on the revolutionary designs that changed the course of music history. Built with period-accurate bodies, necks, and hardware, premium finishes, and meticulously tuned year-specific pickups, each instrument captures the essence of authentic Fender craftsmanship and sound. The Telecaster® Thinline first debuted in July 1968, and its semi-hollow design was created to produce lightweight instruments from heavy ash. Redesigned in late '71 around a pair of Wide Range humbucking pickups mounted on a reshaped rounded pearloid pickguard, the second-generation souped-up Telecaster Thinline experienced its first full production year in 1972. Notably, it was Fender’s first six-string with humbucking pickups and the first Tele® to feature six adjustable bridge saddles. The American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster® Thinline reproduces the signature tone and feel of the original. The American Vintage II 1972 Telecaster® Thinline features a "C"-shaped hard rock maple neck and plays like a dream with a 7.25" radius fingerboard and vintage tall frets. To create authentic Wide Range humbucking pickups, we revived CuNiFe magnets, an essential element in recreating the sound of the originals. True to its 1972 production, this Thinline is equipped with a convenient "Bullet"-style truss rod nut, a three-bolt neck plate with Micro-Tilt™ mechanism, "F"-stamped tuners, a six-saddle string-through-body hardtail with bent steel saddles, and is offered in Aged Natural, 3-Color Sunburst, and Lake Placid Blue over a semi-hollow ash body. The instruments in the American Vintage II series are direct descendants of the original Fenders: designed for players with a deep appreciation for vintage Fender tone and feel, and built with unmatched quality, down to the last screw. This is Fender electrification in its purest form: Fender American Vintage II, the stuff of legends.
