These Hihats are known to be controlled and a bit mellow - and they are!
Zildjian describes these beautifully crafted GADD Hats as: “Session Hi-Hats are a unique pairing, modeled after Steve Gadd's personal HiHats. They feature a slightly undersized (13 15/16"), medium-weight top cymbal, and a medium-thin bottom cymbal. These hi-hats are built to be controlled and custom-made for use in the recording studio.”
Weighing 1148 grams for the Top Cymbal and 992 for the Bottom Cymbal, these Session K Customs are a unique pairing for sure. The top looks like a Brilliant K Constantinople while the Bottom has the smooth resemblance of an A Custom.
It indeed gives these beautiful 14s” a bit more smoothness and control - as promised.
And this particular pair is clean with both dark and bright present. Very balanced.
Both cymbals sport a Brilliant Finish giving these 14s” a gorgeous shimmer. Terrific articulation too.
