Selling a Mackie Onyx 1200F studio recording interface in good functional and cosmetic condition.
This is a premium 30-input x 34-output rack unit featuring 12 flagship Onyx microphone preamps and high-end 24-bit/192kHz AKM converters. It is ideal as a standalone preamp bank, an ADAT expander, or a central interface for studios running legacy or legacy-bridged setups.
FEATURES & SPECS:
Premium I/O: 12 boutique Onyx mic preamps with individual 48V phantom power.
Pro Conversion: AKM 24-bit/192kHz A/D and D/A converters. Digital Matrix: 16x16 ADAT I/O Word Clock Stereo AES/EBU, and S/PDIF.
Monitoring: A/B monitoring w/4 separate stereo headphone outputs with independent volume controls.
DSP Power: Onboard Matrix Mixer for near-zero latency routing.
COMPATIBILITY STIPULATIONS (Please Read Before Buying):
Hardware Connection: This is a legacy device that connects natively via FireWire 800/400.
Modern OS/Mac Compatibility: Mackie stopped official driver updates for this unit years ago. If you plan to use it as a direct audio interface, it is highly recommended for legacy systems (e.g., older macOS or Windows versions that still support Mackie drivers).
Modern Bridge Workaround: To use this on modern Thunderbolt-equipped computers (Mac or PC), you will need a chain of adapters (FireWire to Thunderbolt 2, and Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 3/4) alongside custom driver workarounds.
Standalone / ADAT Mode: No drivers required if used as a standalone 12-channel preamp or standalone mixer via ADAT lightpipe. It works perfectly as a high-quality expansion front-end for any modern USB/Thunderbolt interface with ADAT inputs.
Buyer Responsibility: Please ensure your operating system and hardware can support this device before purchasing. Sold as-is regarding software/OS compatibility.
CONDITION NOTES:
Unit is fully tested and 100% operational. Shows typical minor cosmetic wear/light scratching on the top (see picture) from being rack-mounted, which can't be seen when rack-mounted. Includes power cable, original user manual and rack ears.
Available for pickup in Nobleton or can meet up at a nearby public place in the greater Toronto area.
