"The MT-32 incorporates a 128-timbre sound library that lets you select sounds for any of the non-rhythm parts. The sound source block allows you to play up to 32 notes for the 8 parts simultaneously, each of which may consist of any number of notes within the upper limit.
The MT-32 works in conjunction with a MIDI keyboard, sequencer and other instruments that generate MIDI data."
