Akai have released firmware update 1.3 for the MPC sample, adding new features and fixes.
ADDED:
Normalize Sample:
- In the Sample > Trim window holding SHIFT will reveal the Normalize function on Button 2. This will normalize the sample to 0dB between the sample start and sample end points.
Knob Takeover Modes
- Change the hardware control behaviour to match your workflow. There are separate settings available for Standard parameters, Knob FX and the Fader.
These settings can be found in the MIDI Config menu, by holding down SHIFT and pressing Pad 8. Each of these can be set to either:
- Pickup: parameters are not editable until the control matches the parameter position.
- Scaled: Parameters move in the same direction as the hardware control is adjusted. At a scaled rate based on knob and param positions to ensure the knob and parameter position eventually meet.
- Instant: As soon as a control is adjusted, the parameter will jump to match the knob position.
CHANGES
- The default Knob Takeover mode for knob parameters and Knob FX is 'Scaled' now.
- Fader remains in 'Pickup' mode by default.
FIXED:
- Crash on shutdown if temp project is corrupted.
- Default Attack value after sample record is 0.
- Internal mic records in stereo after power cycling.
- Save Progress popup is delayed when saving.
- Loop lock is not reset after a pad is cleared.
- Insufficient space popup not displayed when exporting mixdown to a full SD card.

MPC OS 3.8 expands the MPC workflow by introducing MPC Sample integration across standalone and desktop systems. Start ideas in MPC Sample, load projects directly into MPC hardware or software, export an MPC Drum track back to Sample, and access MPC Sample effects inside any other MPC. With improved stability and performance across supported devices, MPC OS 3.8 makes it easy to move projects between environments without interrupting your creative flow.
