Jackson SL1 Soloist, 1993 - Custom Shop Bikini Beach

I never thought I'd sell this guitar, but a recent health related revelation has dictated this very regrettable sale. You are looking at a genuine and very, very rare USA Jackson SL1 Soloist Bikini Beach, Custom Shop, (circa 1993). This was manufactured in the original Jackson Custom Shop prior to being bought out by Fender. This guitar is as good as Jackson's ever got. It has none of the quality issues that have plagued the Fender era Jacksons. The Bikini Beach guitars were hand airbrushed at the factory, and each one is unique. There are no two exactly the same. Most bikini Beach guitars were Dinkys. A Bikini SL1 is even more unusual. Jackson produced very few Bikini Beach guitars. Hardly any made it over to the UK. This may well be the only UK example, but I can't say for sure. (You never know what guitars people have stored away). This particular example has only had three owners from new, myself included. It's been well looked after and has only minor chipping in some places. Please see photos, as they show most of chips/marks. Please note: close up photos make the chips appear much worse than they actually are. Some paint has come away around the control and trim cavity covers. The black anodising of these covers is quite worn. This is a gigged guitar, but it's in fantastic condition, despite being gigged quite a lot by it's previous owner. I had my luthier give the guitar it's first fret dress/pro set up from new. It plays like silk, easily the best playing guitar i've encountered - and i've played many hundreds of guitars over the years. I purchased the guitar with the original pickups and mid-boost circuitry installed, but the board wasn't working. The pickups worked well, but sounded old, dated, etc. Technology has moved on since this was built, so I decided to have the guitar electronics overhauled/professionally set up/fret dressed/fret board cleaned and oiled, etc. The guitar is now running brand new EMG 81, SLV, SLV pickups with 9 - 18v switching. It has Bare Knuckle pots and 1ohm quality capacitor fitted. EMG pickups sound good on 9v. But 18v operation transforms them!! I have never heard a better metal/rock tone than 18v EMGs. No more woolly, loose bottom end, no thin clipped top end, and the most headroom I've ever heard!! The SLVs offer a nice fat active single coil tone. The 81 offers the typical 81 EMG tone with 9v operation, but really opens up into a well balanced tight tone when running 18v. In short, this guitar sounds amazing!! This guitar plays exactly as you would expect for a pre-Fender top of the line USA Soloist. When I got the guitar back from the luthier I ended up raising the action just a little because it was so low I couldn't get used to it. It's also been fitted with new Ernie Ball Paradigm 9-42 strings, which are super elastic. (My favourite strings by far). This is the best playing guitar I've ever played, and I've played many hundreds of guitars, having played professionally and having had my own shop/music school. In short, they just don't make guitars like this any more. Comes with the original Jackson hard case and trem arm. This is literally a classic piece of Jackson Guitars history and heavy metal history. Any questions please do ask. This guitar is a metal monster!!!
