Marshall

JTM45 Head – 1998

The Marshall JTM45 remains one of the most revered amplifiers ever produced, delivering the warm, dynamic and touch-sensitive tones that helped define British rock music. Based on the design that launched the Marshall story in the early 1960s, the JTM45 offers a smoother and more open character than later Marshall models, with rich cleans, thick overdrive and exceptional responsiveness to a player's touch.

This example dates from 1998 and presents with a number of tasteful cosmetic upgrades that give it a striking vintage-inspired appearance. A plexi-style Marshall logo has been fitted to the front panel, along with a white control panel and black round pointer knobs, creating a look reminiscent of Marshall's earliest amplifiers while maintaining the reliability and practicality of a modern reissue.

Powered by the classic JTM45 circuit, this amplifier delivers everything from warm blues and vintage rock tones through to rich, harmonically complex overdrive when pushed. It responds beautifully to guitar volume adjustments and remains one of the finest pedal platforms Marshall has ever produced.

Whether you're chasing authentic Bluesbreaker-era tones, early Clapton, Hendrix, Kossoff or classic British blues-rock sounds, the JTM45 continues to set the benchmark.

Condition

Good overall condition for its age. The amplifier shows normal signs of use consistent with a well-cared-for example, while the cosmetic modifications give it a distinctive vintage aesthetic. Fully functional and performing exactly as intended.

The amplifier is performing exactly as intended and is ready for studio, stage or collection use.

Tone

The JTM45 occupies a unique place in Marshall's history. Compared to a Plexi Super Lead or JMP, it offers a softer attack, rounder low end and sweeter top-end response. Clean tones are rich and three-dimensional, while cranked tones produce the thick, singing sustain that made the original JTM45 a favourite among blues and classic rock players.
