Welcome players,

Here for consideration, a genuine Japanese Yamaha FG-180 'Red Label' getting more and more unlikely to find in such playable condition.

To those that don't know, these are special and mysterious guitars, held in high regard amongst players and vintage enthusiasts alike. With its jumbo body and light bracing, yielding a tone that aims beyond its modest price point, the FG-180 is an iconic piece played and loved my many a luminary and vagabond (often being both!) through the years, from the more obvious good old Jimmy Page and also Elliot Smith, to the more obscure Blaze Foley even, bless him!

So, this is a players grade guitar.....whilst in very good overall condition for the age of 55 years, we are describing this here just as 'good' condition as per Reverb guidelines, sold as described.

For transparency there are the usual signs of musical skirmishing over half a century that will nearly always be expected on this model, plus some maintenance repairs made over the years as detailed below.

The bridge has been reset and appears solid, and there is some historic refinishing to the top board which is not the best, so the overall look is far from perfect, yet as a player - certainly better than most, and we see a lot.

We have fully overhauled the guitar and ensure that it is ready to play with a good low action of just over 2.5mm at the 12th fret, this is not usually achievable on these guitars without a neck reset, so it is refreshing to offer such a nice player.

Asking prices vary up to over £1000 for one of these with an original case, so at our asking price of half that value, its still a contender.

Over to you for the next 50,

Enjoy!
