A lovely example of a post-war 00-18, this 1951 build is incredibly lightweight, responsive and dynamic.

Constructed with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this 00-18 delivers a beautifully balanced voice. There’s a dry, woody fundamental with a clear, focused midrange and a sweet, open top end and the smaller 00 body size makes for an incredibly immediate and intimate playing experience, equally at home with fingerstyle, flatpicking or strumming.

Presented in very good condition for its age, this guitar has been well cared for across its 75- year lifetime, with only very light playwear throughout and no sign of any splits, cracks or repairs. The neck has a comfortable, effortless feeling medium-C profile with a hint of V that thickens nicely towards the body. The frets appear original as does the nut. The bridge saddle has split between the D and G strings, however remains fully functional and with room left for height adjustment. The current action is however very comfortable, and plays very easily across the whole neck.

As expected, it’s an extremely resonant instrument, with a lively response that rewards a nuanced touch. There is a really pleasant, dry growl to the lower mids that balances perfectly with the top end. One of the reasons we love a Spruce/Mahogany small bodied Martins! Put simply this is one of the nicer examples we've heard, and it has proven a difficult instrument to put down among staff members!

A superb, well looked after example that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face!
