The Ritter Bern Trumpet Bag is named after the Swiss capital, a city that has spent centuries standing its ground and staying reliable.

The protection comes from a 28mm layer of padding, which is a massive step up from the thin foam you usually get at this level. Inside, it is all plush linings and soft sides, so your lacquer won't be taking a beating while you are on the move.

Ritter has also put some thought into the exterior, adding an anti-wear base and reflective stripes at the bottom. This practical touch helps the bag survive being dumped on garage floors and makes you a bit more visible if you are walking back from a gig in the dark.

The adjustable backpack straps are essential for keeping your hands free, but the addition of a back handle is what really makes the difference when you are trying to pull your gear out of a crowded car boot or navigate a busy backstage corridor.

There is even a zipped side pocket for your essentials and an address tag, just in case your gear decides to go on a solo tour without you. It is a sturdy, well-thought-out bit of kit that does exactly what it says on the tin.
