DESCRIPTION

The Intensive Care Audio Vena Cava Filter combines high gain distortion with a dynamic auto filter and ring modulation in a single, distinctive unit. It can serve as a powerful standalone distortion, a rhythmically animated filter effect, or an experimental texture machine suited to alternative, noise, industrial and modern psych sounds.

The distortion circuit delivers everything from mild overdrive to thick, saturated drive with generous output. Adding the filter introduces sweeping, stepped and random modulation patterns that reshape your tone in motion. Smooth sine and triangle waves provide fluid swirl, while square, ramp and random modes create choppy, glitchy and percussive effects. The integrated ring modulator adds metallic overtones, octave down textures and stuttering artefacts, either swept by the LFO or fixed at a chosen frequency.

The eight position Wave Function selector offers Random Slopes, Random Steps, Staircase, Sine, Triangle, Square, Ramp Down and Ramp Up. Freq sets modulation speed, shown by the LED above it, and can be controlled via tap tempo. Peak adjusts modulation depth. Ring sets the ring modulator frequency, with a switch to remove LFO control. Voice selects between two filter voicings, including a narrower high emphasis notch. Gain sets distortion intensity, Volume controls output, and Blend mixes pure distortion with the filtered and ring modulated signal.

The hybrid design pairs a digital LFO with analogue distortion and filtering stages. Soft touch footswitches operate relay based true bypass for reliable, quiet switching. Built in London, England, the wedge shaped metal enclosure features a textured black powder coat finish, Neutrik jacks and side mounted sockets for tidy pedalboard integration.
