Dating from c.1962, this is a Hofner Colorama 163V. It has a single ''diamond'' pickup and the rectangular control panel which contains a volume control, a treble on/off switch, bass on/off switch and a rhythm/solo switch. The ''V'' stands for vibrato - in other words a tremolo tailpiece with tremolo arm. the neck is in maple and the fretboard contains 22 frets with dot markers.
It is a rare model as the body is covered in the original brown vinyl with a cream centre division. Quite a few solid body Hofners had vinyl covered bodies but the brown ones are very rare and this one is in a good condition.
It is original as far as I am aware apart from a few scratchplate screws, the top and bottom tuner buttons and the tremolo arm.
A very nice example.
