This powerful half-rack sized multi-FX unit is in excellent full working condition having been tucked into my home studio desk for the last 10 years or so. It was my main input route for electric bass but I no longer need it. It is actually the second of these units that I have had (hence the box referring to a different serial number) as the screen on the first got damaged - but I happily got hold of another unit as it was so neat and useful.

There are 54 effects types listed in the manual (see the final photo showing the index) which can be combined in chains as you would expect. There are dozens of presets covering many of the situations that guitarists, bass players, synth players and vocalists might need - with lots of flexibility to edit the parameters of each effect and create your own presets.

This is sold with full original power supply, packaging and 142 page paper manual. You will appreciate that this is a 20+ year-old unit so I can't guarantee it will last for ever - but Boss makes them sturdy! It is available for pick up from me in North London or I will carefully double box it and send it in the UK at no extra cost.

A Sound On Sound review from 2000 concluded:

"It doesn't take long working through the preset patches to become impressed with the big sounds generated by this tiny processor. .... All the effects types such as reverb, delay, chorus and EQ are up to the usual Roland standard, and the 24‑bit A‑D/D‑A conversion is very clean. .... If the VF1 just provided the basic multi‑effects types to the standard it does, it would probably already represent decent value for money. When you consider all the other sonic options it provides, it would be difficult to argue that the VF1 is not a good deal."
