I have been modding , refinishing and repairing guitars as a pro since 2003 here in sunny Cornwall. I also build complete guitars to customer's specs based on my own handmade bodies or their designs. Cornwall is full of musicians and I have worked on the guitars of many and have modded or custom built for session players and performers all over the UK.
I specialise in lightweight guitars and , personally, have a special interest in those adapted for slide work . My guitars are all built with a leaning towards 'blues' guitar tones ( look elsewhere for guitars suited for metal or folk !) .
All guitars are in nitro and I use handwound pups wound by Bare Knuckle ( they are based 40 mins away from me ) , Oil City ( for custom work ) Mojo ( slide pickups ) , 'The Creamery' ( age specific pickups) and also 'Bloodstone Guitarworks' and Jason Lollar ( USA). Of course, I will fit any brand of pickup that you specifically request or will guide you if you are not sure what will give you 'your' sound. Maybe we can include a special set that you already have that could be used in the build ? Some of the above winders will also wind to a unique spec.
Ageing is a contentious topic , I know ....but for those that like the lived in look and feel, I offer a wide range of relic finishes .....from 'old bean' to 'has been' ( from authenticly aged to 'upsetting' ! ! ). My own guitars sell under the name ' Crema Customs' but for those that have a diehard loyalty to the big 'F' , I can upgrade your Mexican or USA guitar to any level you desire including full stripping of offensive and tone- choking poly 'plastic ' straight- jacket finish and refinishing in tone- friendly , humane, tactile , thincoat nitro ! All plastics and hardware can be aged to your level of choice too ( including chromed parts ) .
Other customers want a much lighter guitar...so a body swap- out can be done .Bodies in White Limba, Obeche or other lightweight tonewoods can be used to save a considerable amount of weight .
After all , Leo created the basis for 'that' vibe , both ergonomically and more importantly, tonally. But that is not to say that the early designs ( mid 20 th century) cannot be 'tweaked' and customized to your specific needs and wants to make your guitar unique to YOU , rather than just be another guitar off a guitarshop's shelf .
No deposit is needed and payment only required if the finished custombuild meets the customer's expectations.
