Special Conditions
Order Cancellations
Every order at Professor Nigel’s is processed with care—often within minutes of being placed—to ensure fast, accurate fulfillment. Because orders enter our workflow immediately, Professor Nigel’s does not accept order cancellations. In the event an exceptional cancellation request is approved before an order ships, a 15% cancellation fee will apply to cover order processing and fulfillment preparation costs already incurred. Once an order has shipped, it cannot be canceled. The standard return policy will apply if the item is eligible for return.
Backordered and Preordered Items
Orders placed for backordered or preordered products are processed and reserved for quick turnaround at the time of purchase, and represent a reservation of incoming inventory. These orders are not eligible for cancellation. If an exceptional cancellation request is approved before the item ships, a 15% cancellation fee will apply to cover order processing, inventory reservation, and administrative costs already incurred.
To maintain fair pricing and service for all customers, Professor Nigel’s cannot accommodate nonessential cancellation requests, including but not limited to: “ordered by mistake,” “changed my mind,” “found it cheaper elsewhere,” or “an unexpected expense came up.” We appreciate your understanding—every order supports a small, tone-obsessed lab that ships each piece with care and precision.
Preowned (Used) & Vintage Items - 7 Days
Preowned (Used) & Vintage items may be returned within 7 days of the delivery date following General Terms outlined below. We do not accept order cancellation requests for any reason.
Preowned Instruments (Guitars and Basses)
All sales for preowned instruments are final. We do not accept order cancellation requests for any reason. Due to the difficulty to obtain most instruments we sell, expense to appropriately pack and ship these items, and additional risk introduced during transit, preowned guitars and basses are excluded from the return policy and considered sold "as-is" unless otherwise stated in the item description.
New Items - 7 days
New items may be returned within 7 days of the delivery date following General Terms outlined below.
New Instruments (Guitars and Basses)
New instruments may be returned within 7 calendar days of delivery only if returned in original, as-shipped condition with all original packaging, accessories, and included materials. A 15% restocking fee applies to all preference-based returns, and the buyer is responsible for all return shipping, insurance, and related transit costs.
All returns must be authorized in advance by Professor Nigel’s. Unauthorized returns may be refused.
Items must be returned with all original packaging materials, case candy, tags, tools, and documentation. The instrument must show no signs of use, modification, or handling wear beyond normal inspection. Missing materials, improper repacking, or new damage may result in a reduction of refund or refusal of return.
If you believe an instrument arrived in a condition other than described, or was damaged in transit, you must contact Professor Nigel’s within 24 hours of delivery and provide photographs or video of the instrument and all packaging materials. Any approved return must be authorized prior to shipment.
Return refunds will not be processed until Professor Nigel's has received the return, inspected the item, and confirmed it meets return-policy conditions.
International buyers: Please be aware you are responsible for ALL import duties and taxes for your country. The ONLY exception is that Reverb automatically pays VAT for transactions below £135 for the UK or €150 for the European Union.
General Terms
The Buyer will receive a full refund in their original payment method less any shipping, customs fees, or other transit related costs, taxes, and the restocking fee outlined below unless the item was not received as described. The following terms apply to returns for all items unless otherwise stated in the item description:
• Contact Professor Nigel's within 7 calendar days of delivery for all returnable items unless otherwise stated in the item description.
• Items must be returned in original, as-shipped to Buyer condition with all original packaging and no signs of use.
• Buyer assumes responsibility for all shipping, insurance, customs, or other expenses related to transit to and from the Buyer for returned items.
• Professor Nigel's is not liable for any damages to items during return shipping.
• The Buyer is responsible for ensuring the return shipment is sufficiently insured and items are packed appropriately in the original packaging materials to prevent damage in transit back to Professor Nigel's. Damage due to improper packaging may void any return claim filed by the buyer.
• Orders from buyers outside the United States of America and Canada are sold "as-is" and excluded from the return policy.
• A 15% restocking fee applies to all returnable items and will be subtracted from the refund.
• Return refunds will not be processed until Professor Nigel's has received the return from the buyer and verified the item is in the same condition as when shipped to the buyer.
• Please allow for up to 5 business days after Professor Nigel's has received the item to process return refunds.
Manufacturer Warranty & Defects
Brand New items are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty. Any manufacturing or design-related defects must be addressed directly with the manufacturer through their warranty process. Professor Nigel’s does not perform warranty repairs or make defect determinations. Buyer-paid return shipping applies to all returns unless the item was damaged in transit or the incorrect item was shipped.
Return Claims for Items Not As Described
We put great effort into ensuring all items we sell are thoroughly inspected, tested, and well-packed before shipping. In the event you feel an item was received in a condition other than as described, we ask that the Buyer abide by the following policy when returning Items Not As Described. This is to verify that the item was not damaged by the shipping company while in transit to the Buyer and to help us understand the nature of the issue. If the item is reported to have arrived in a condition other than described in the original listing and photographs:
• Contact Professor Nigel's within 24 hours of delivery for all items.
• The buyer must provide photographic, video, text description, or other appropriate information to Professor Nigel's detailing reported defect(s) or deviation from the original listing description and photographs before a return will be initiated.
• The buyer must provide photographs or video of all packaging materials as received from the shipping logistics company including exterior of box(es) (all sides), interior of box(es), inflatable cradles or other internal packing materials, highlighting any signs of damage that may have impacted your item(s).
• Professor Nigel's is not responsible for any incompatibility with your other music making tools (i.e. non-isolated power supplies, bad grounding, incompatibility with existing connections, cables, etc.)
• If the return is approved, Professor Nigel's will provide a return shipping label.
• Items must be returned in original, as-shipped to buyer condition with all original packaging and no signs of use.
• The buyer is responsible for ensuring the item is packed appropriately in the original packaging materials to prevent damage in transit back to Professor Nigel's. Damage due to improper packaging may void any return claim filed by the buyer.
• Return refunds will not be processed until Professor Nigel's has received the return from the buyer and verified the item is in the same condition as when shipped to the buyer.
• Please allow for up to 5 business days after Professor Nigel's has received the item to process return refunds.
• If you suspect the item was damaged in transit from Professor Nigel's to you (the Buyer), please see Items Damaged in Transit.
Items Damaged in Transit
We take every precaution to ensure your order is delivered as expected, but unfortunately items are still occasionally damaged in transit due to rough handling by shipping company personnel. We ship all items over $400 as Signature Required to ensure direct handoff of your order from the shipping company to you or someone you trust. We also verify all shipments have the appropriate amount of insurance to recoup any costs related to damage in transit. For drop-shipped or supplier-fulfilled items, packaging and shipment may be handled directly by the manufacturer or distributor using their standard packaging procedures.
If you notice significant damage to the box and/or shipping materials, or witness improper handling of your order by the shipping company (i.e. box is roughly handled or thrown), please follow the following procedure:
• If you notice significant external damage to the box, DO NOT IMMEDIATELY OPEN IT. Alert the delivery person to this issue if they are still present. Thoroughly document the condition of the exterior of the box with photographs and/or video prior to opening, document or gather any additional information (i.e. witnessed mishandling description, home security camera footage).
• Notify Professor Nigel's as soon as possible so we are aware of the issue and provide any information you have available. In most cases, we will open the claim for you as the Shipper. UPS, FedEx, and USPS all have different requirements in this regard.
• Depending on the nature of the issue, we will help facilitate resolution of the claim in any way we can and ensure your order is refunded, repaired, or replaced.
Drop-Shipped / Supplier-Fulfilled Items
Certain items offered by Professor Nigel’s may ship directly from a manufacturer or authorized distributor partner rather than from our Phoenix facility. These arrangements allow us to provide reliable access to specialized equipment while maintaining careful inventory discipline and efficient fulfillment.
Orders for drop-shipped or supplier-fulfilled items are processed promptly upon receipt. Estimated ship dates are provided in good faith but are not guaranteed, as processing and transit times may vary based on supplier availability, production schedules, and carrier conditions. Professor Nigel’s will communicate any material delays as soon as they are known.
Availability for supplier-fulfilled items depends on real-time inventory information provided by third-party partners. In rare cases, an item may become unavailable after purchase due to allocation changes, inventory discrepancies, or supplier constraints. If this occurs, the Buyer will be notified promptly and the order will be canceled with a full refund.
Drop-shipped items are typically shipped in sealed manufacturer packaging and may not be opened or inspected by Professor Nigel’s prior to shipment. Packaging and packing methods follow the supplier’s standard procedures. Professor Nigel’s remains responsible for order coordination and customer communication but does not physically handle these items before delivery.
The Buyer is responsible for providing a complete and accurate shipping address at the time of purchase. Orders shipped directly from supplier facilities may not be eligible for rerouting, address correction, or delivery changes once processing begins. Additional shipping charges may apply if shipment changes are requested after release.
Shipments refused by the Buyer, returned due to failed delivery attempts, or returned because of incorrect address information may be subject to return shipping costs, carrier fees, restocking charges, and any other expenses incurred in recovering the shipment.
Tracking information for supplier-fulfilled items is typically issued once the shipment is released by the supplier facility. Processing timelines for these items may differ from orders shipped directly from Professor Nigel’s.
Items will not be substituted without the Buyer’s approval. If the exact item ordered becomes unavailable prior to shipment, the order will be canceled and refunded.
All other return, damage, and warranty policies outlined in this document remain in effect unless otherwise stated in the item description.
