Many years back after discovering vintage gear online I decided to purchase a Pioneer SX-1280 and finding that it had issues I brought to local repair shop. Was charged over $ 300.00 to replace less than 10 capacitors.
Repairs are a band aid for 35 to 40 year old dried out electrolytic capacitors. All electrolytic and tantalum capacitors should replaced along with new heat sinking compound to the hot running transistors and re-solder joints when necessary. If not, failure may happen again. Switches must be cleaned and lubricated along with cleaning the inside and outside of the unit including faceplate and knobs. I have an Associate's degree in Electronics Technology and decided to start restoring some units around 2016.
I work a 40 hour job already and do this "on the side". I have too many units waiting to restore so please don't ask if I can restore a model of yours. I enjoy doing this and try to keep the prices low. I have my listings set to "no offers" so please don't ask what is the lowest price you will take? These products are not "flipped" to sell for more $. Lots of parts and time went into these "unique" listings since most similar units for sale have not been restored so price is listed as is. I can't answer subjective questions such as will an Adcom GFP-565 pre-amp sound good paired to a SG-300 Equalizer? And so on and so forth. Please know what you are looking for before purchasing. Sorry I have to be very specific to avoid miscommunications and I am by no means a salesperson. No repair advice or information will be given since I have to devote my time to restoring product for paying customers. Please google your repair questions. It couldn't be easier.
