Down Home Guitars is the premier all acoustic music shop in the Chicagoland area. Established in 2008 to provide an atmosphere for those who appreciate fine acoustic instruments, we specialize in high-end handmade acoustic guitars, banjos, mandolins, ukuleles and more by Bourgeois, Collings, Deering, Huss & Dalton, Lowden, Martin, Santa Cruz, and more. We also have a fine selection of used instruments, accessories, acoustic pickups and more.
We offer private lessons on various instruments as well as group classes for kids and adults. We also host world class musicians for concerts and workshops in our intimate concert hall as well as free weekly bluegrass jams every Thursday and an open mic the 4th Friday of the month.
The store is set in historic downtown Frankfort, Illinois in the 'Trolley Barn', a 100 year old train turnstile building converted to a specialty shops. We are minutes from I 80 and Rt.45(Lagrange Rd) as well as I 57 and Rt.30(Lincoln Hwy.) and open Monday through Saturday. Stop by and visit the neighborhood and experience these truly exceptional instruments.

We ship all instruments free of charge via Fed Ex ground service within the continental United States. The purchaser is responsible for any upcharge to receive the instrument and or product sooner than standard ground shipping allows.
Shipping charges:
Alaska: $150
Hawaii: $200
Canada: $100
North America: $100
Rest of the world: $400
Europe (Non EU): $500
Buyer is also responsible for all international duty/ import fees.
There are no returns on International sales or instruments with requested alterations prior to shipping ( examples: strap buttons or pickup installation etc.).

We offer a 48 return policy on all instruments. We do our best to give quality pictures and factual descriptions of our instruments to ensure your piece of mind when buying. If you decide to return an instrument, you must contact us within the 48 hour trial period (continental US only) and we will authorize the return. The instrument sale is final 48 hours from delivery. If returned, you are responsible for all shipping costs both ways. We do not charge a restocking fee. Just pack the item securely in the box with original packing materials and send via FedEx or UPS insured back to us the next business day. Upon inspection that the item is in the condition that it left the store, we will promptly refund your account the full amount minus our initial shipping cost.
A requested delay in shipping by the customer over 5 days will void trial period and return policy. There are no returns on international sales, picked up instruments, purchase with trade in or on instruments with any requested alterations (e.g. pickup or strap button installations etc.) performed by our shop prior to shipping or by the customer upon receiving the instrument.
