Baxendale Guitar located in Santa Fe, NM. Baxendale Guitar is also the location of Baxendale Harmony and Kay Conversions which are the greenest guitars made today with Baxendale's proprietary remanufacturing process, as well as Baxendale Luthier Academy and Baxendale Custom Guitars. We have a full repair staff and full service professional Guitar shop.
Our regular clients include a who's who of the music business such as Wilco, R.E.M., Widespread Panic, the Drive-by Truckers, Luther Dickinson & the North Mississippi All Stars, Brothers Osborne, Buddy Miller, Lera Lynn, My Morning Jacket, Butch Walker, Michael Lockwood, and many others.
Scott Baxendale began building guitars in 1974 at Mossman Guitars, in Winfield Ks home of the national flat picking championships at the Walnut Valley Festival. In 1978 Scott moved to Nashville and worked for George Gruhn restoring vintage instruments. In 1985 Scott purchased Mossman Guitars and moved it to Texas. There Scott built about 250 guitars between 1985-1992. In the late 90's, after working for a couple of years at the Denver Folk Lore Center, Scott started the Colfax Guitar Shop in Denver. There he began teaching lutherie and his proprietary remanufacturing process began to evolve from the luthier school. In 2010 Scott sold the Colfax Guitar Shop and opened Baxendale Guitar in Athens Ga. Scott has built custom guitars for, Carl Perkins, James Burton, Willie Nelson, Joe Walsh, Patterson Hood, Mike Cooley, Luther Dickinson, Jason Isbell, Booker T Jones, Will Sexton, Jorma Kaukonen, Greg Lake, Donovan, Chris Hillman, Jimmy Herring, John Kay, Travis Tritt, Johnny Depp, and many others.
