The Original Reissues

When the American Vintage series was introduced in 1982, Fender produced the guitars in their Fullerton factory, which would later become home to the Custom Shop. Fullerton remained the American Vintage series' home until 1985, when production moved to Corona, California. The 1982 - 1984 Fullerton run of American Vintage models are considered the best of the series.

Thin Skin American Vintage Guitars

"Thin Skin" FSR runs of American Vintage guitars feature a lighter, lower gloss finish that accepts wear and tear more easily than a traditional factory finish - getting your guitar to that lived-in feel in a year instead of a decade. "Thin Skin" models were usually produced in short runs for specific retailers, and significantly less common than your average American Vintage model.
